BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd) has signed US firm SOMA Networks to deploy the world’s largest mobile WiMax network in India. It’s a project with both parties will benefit from the revenues, SOMA has agreed to provide the technology to BSNL. Mobile WiMax will be rolled out in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh and make avaialble wireless broadband coverage to nearly 200 million people over the next 3 years. This will make it the first deployment of mobile WiMax per the 802.16e standard.
